Mesoscale Discussions (MCDs):
Yet another frustrating day to cap off a frustrating stretch of days. We deployed thrice today:
1) 14 mi of W of Larned -- intensifying convection that became increasingly outflow dominant. Large hail was reported to our west.
2) ~4 mi S of Pratt -- deployed on supercell to the W, with convection developing and congealing with the supercell. Meso should be evident in the velocity data. We left this cell ~10 minutes before it produced several tornadoes S and SE of Pratt. Oy.
3) Between Udall and Belle Plaine -- Relatively small supercell to our W, with the hook and updraft moving overhead. One very small hook (on the order of what looked to be <1 km) developed to our SW and moved overhead, with a larger hook moving within a km to our S. Some interesting reflectivity signatures as it moved through. The supercell looked to be strongest as we were getting in position to deploy, so I'm not sure what the velocity data will contain. Very low cloud base with good upward motion into the updraft base, and the base was very turbulent (many relatively small and transient areas of rotation).
